Solution Focused Therapy
Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) is based on the concept that just because a problem is complicated, it does not mean its solutions need to be. Most of the time we already have the inner resources we need to manage our difficulties, and all that is required is for us to recognise what these are.

SFT is committed to what it calls ‘problem free talk’. This means that you are encouraged to discuss what is working in your life, not just what is not working.

The aims of SFT are to help you recognise and use your strengths and skills to achieve your goals. In turn, this helps you feel more confident and more aware of what you are actually capable of.

SFT is a time-limited and brief approach to treatment, which focuses on self-development, growth and responsibility. While it acknowledges present problems and past causes, SFT concentrates on
solution-building, rather than problem-solving, and it predominantly focuses on making improvements in the present and setting goals for your preferred future.
